The History

Founded in Atlanta in 1989 by I. Pano Karatassos, Chops Lobster Bar began as Buckhead's definitive fine dining destination. Karatassos, a member of the inaugural class of the CIA Alumni Hall of Fame and recipient of the National Restaurant Association's Legend Fine Dining Award, built the restaurant on a simple philosophy: the highest-quality ingredients, impeccable service, and a dining experience guests would remember long after the meal.
Over three decades later, with locations in Atlanta and Boca Raton, the restaurant remains what it has always been, a standard-setter. A perennial on Jezebel's list of Atlanta's best restaurants and named Best Fine Dining for 2026, Chops has earned a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and what Dining Out calls "upscale and timeless, delivering luxury without feeling dated."

Steaks are custom-aged USDA Prime and seared in a 1,700-degree oven, building the crust and tenderness that define a great steakhouse cut. Seafood arrives fresh daily: Nova Scotia lobster, long called the Rolls-Royce of lobster, alongside genuine Dover sole and Chilean sea bass. For the rarest nights, Chops offers Genuine Certified Miyazaki A5 Wagyu from Japan, a distinction held by only a handful of restaurants in the country.
